I recently acquired some small wood scraps of assorted sized and thickness's maple, cherry, oak, padauk, yellow heart, purple heart, walnut, and other random species. Since they came from a woodworking shop I thought I would make a few pens to gift back to them. These aren't tedious and artistic segmented pens we see from some of you wood artist… I haven't the time or skill for that, but I hope they will be well received. Here's what I came up with, random sized and arranged scraps dressed on gold ti and chrome diamond knurl sets from Exoticblanks, all finished with Gluboost.

Thanks for looking!

Nice pens. How did you square the pieces for gluing?
Thanks,

This was not the ideal project with pieces cut cross grain. Because the pieces were so small they include end grain in the pattern. They are not perfectly square but it's not noticeable unless you're really looking for it. I resawed them on the band saw and lightly sanded them on the belt sander to smooth the surface but not over sand them out of shape. I then drilled a 1/8" hole in the center of each snd glued them together on a 1/8" rod to keep them all in line.
I shot a YouTube video so the recipients can see how they were made. It's pretty basic for pen turners but you can fast forward to see that process if you want.
Thanks
