Cut this Burl last month and wanted to give it a try----looks like a nice lighter colored wood---turns nice and is great to finish.

I like it. I just cut up a burl for my special and have some shorties left for my own use. It does remind me a lot of maple burl, but it seems to cut smoother.
Nice pen, by the way.

Well done Gary.

ooooo I like but what is a Ramone burl?

Great looking pen. I have never heard of Ramone before. Beautiful wood.

That is Ramone root burl (found underground) and usually has very high silica content that can dull your tools fast. It usually has lace figure and is sweet smelling wood.

Here is an info about the wood http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_nut

Breadnut/Ramone is related to Jackfruit for those who are familiar with it.

Gee I don't know I was just trading with some guy from Texas and it was in the pile:bananen_smilies008:

Gary this is a beautiful pen. Very nicely done.

But every time I see the topic title I think this is a post about Perry Mason (Raymond Burr)
