This is a Race Car pen from Woodturningz in satin chrome. The blank is an AA from Woodcraft called Irish Hill. My friend, who this is for, prefers matte finish pens. In the past, I've used 0000 steel wool to put a satin finish on acrylic blanks. But it didn't work this time, it left visible scratches. I tried many different things, but in the end used 600 grit wet. It turned out okay, but I think my friend will like it.

Jim, that is a very nice looking pen, your friend should be pleased to own it. I like the look of the kit also, especially, the checkered flag look on both sides of the tires. 👍 👍

Nice looking pen !! . You got the matte finish looking really good, Jim !!

Haven't seen that kit before ... are the tires actually rubber ?

What kind of a mechanism does it have ? ... probably plastic since the instructions refer to unscrewing the plunger before pressing together.

And what is the "symbol" mounted on the clip ? ... is it a steering wheel ?

Overall impression is really nice. . Too bad they didn't design the clip in the form of a stick shift .

Thanks

Yes, the tires are soft. Plastic mechanism. Symbol is a steering wheel. Yeah, a stick shift would be cool. Maybe a black ball with the "H" pattern on it.

Thanks for the reply, Jim, and for the additional pic of the parts ... really like what you have done with this one !! . And I like the "matte". !!

Well done Jim. The finish came out nice; would not have been my preference, but I believe you did a great job.

Stay healthy 😷
