When I make a pen from a blank that was cut cross grain (90 degrees) is there still a need to stop the lathe and sand length wise when "going through the grits"? Old habits are hard to break.
The second part of the question is since 1/2 of the pen is exposed end grain how do you finish it so that the it does not get a dark streak running end to end?
Thanks for any input and as a relativly new wood turner it's really appreciated.
