You can but you have to wipe the blank down with acetone first several times. Cocobolo is very oily and will put dull patches in your CA finish if not. However, acetone does not always work, DAMHIK!

I've used Med CA on Cocobolo and have pretty good success. I do use an accelerator.

Process:
1) I apply a small drop on a paper towel and apply while at speed. I do this two times,
2) two puffs of accelerator, then wait (45 - 60 seconds).
3) repeat steps 1 and 2 about 4 - 6 times. without sanding between coats (if you dry sand the blank before the CA coats to 600 grit, usually sets up for a nice smooth ca coat)
4) Then wet sand through the micro mesh set.
5) polish (1-3 times)

Hope this helps,

thanks for the info on the cocobolo blanks i used acetone on it first and did what was suggested to do worked very well i was quite pleased with the way it turned out again thats for the advice.

You may be surprised how many woods need the acetone wipe. I turned one of Bruce's mangrove blanks today, and had a blotches where the CA wouldn't stick for love or money. The turned barrels are now on the bench for some time for me to figure out just how many acetone wipes it's gonna take. Because 3 obviously isn't enough!
