Pyracantha (Firethorn) ???

Anyone tried turning pyracantha (aka firethorn)?

I trimmed a bush that I planted 7 years ago. Rather than throwing all the thorny branches, I and collected the bigger ones and got about 20 blanks ranging from 3/4" to 1-1/2" dia. At first the color was really bland...almost white but after a while it started changing color to pale pinkish/rose color. It is also very hard and looks promising now.

Anyway, I would like to hear some input from anyone who tried this wood before.

Sounds intriguing. Any chance I could purchase or trade for one. I've been looking for something to market to my fellow firefighters. I have been toying with the idea of firehose and PR like the rattlesnake skins I've seen. Just haven't had time or money to follow that one through yet.
