I have called PSI about this but the tech was gone for the day so I'll have to call back tomorrow. In the meantime I thought I'd post and see if any one else has had this problem with the PSI Nautical pen.
When I put the pen together, the barrel was too short. My first thought was I either trimmed the barrel too short or I had the wrong tube (but the top pressed in fine). The instructions say the tube is 2.62". I disassembled the pen and my barrel measures 2.622". I then pressed the cap back on the pen assembly as far as I could and the gap measures 2.735". I've pushed as hard as I dare and it won't go any further.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and determined a fix? If not, I'll call PSI in the morning.

A fix for the problem

I talked to Tony at PSI today and was told there has been a problem with excess glue inside the cap of the antique pewter Nautical pens that has to be reamed out. PSI has over 4,000 of these they are cleaning out before they ship. They have been in touch with the factory about the problem.

Thanks for the info. I had been ordering the Cowboy pen and thank heavens read the instructions. My experience is that the longer tube is usually on the bottom. Not so on these. I am surprised I caught this.
