I ordered and turned a fireman's pen from PSI for a good friend. However, upon assembly, the tip wouldn't screw into the tube insert. Using my father's metric thread gauges we determined that this thread is 8mm .75mm. Which is definitely not common around these parts. After ordering a tap and die in that size I determined that there was a bugger on the male threads. After cleaning both up the tip screwed in easily.

Just wanted to share in case this happens to anyone else and they don't have a metric thread gauge. Happy turning!

Very pretty pen, is it a clicker or twist?
You push the center together and it "twist locks" like a fire hose coupler to make it write. So more of a manual click, if you will. My friend loved the mechanism because it mimics the fire hoses well.

I think I may have to try that kit. I have the other fireman kit which I made for a couple fireman friends. They loved it. This looks interesting for a gimmicky kit. Thanks for showing.
