Hey Guys,

I recently had a problem with my CA finish. I had finished sanding it, applied plastic polish. It had a gorgeous shine and depth. But when I looked closer, there were tiny pits or holes in the CA. What caused this? Thanks for helping!

I've had the same sort of problem a few times. Fresh CA seems to help.

I also find that weather conditions have an effect on smoothness. What are the conditions in your shop? Mine is poorly heated, and I can't use the higher viscosity CA's when it is cool and damp.

My first thought was accelerator. Since you don't use it, it might be atmospheric conditions that caused the CA to cure too rapidly. Essentially giving you the same problem as using accelerator too quickly.

It was 35 degrees in my shop, BUT, after I applied the CA, I brought it into my house which was about 70 degrees. Do you think it might have been the rapid temperature change?

Its possible that the temperature change will cause condensation. However, if the CA was cured before the change, I'm not sure why there would have been tiny pits.
