A few weeks ago I did an impromptu PITH exchange and I really struggled with packing the box with blanks, kits, bushings, etc. Since I recently needed to pack up about a dozen of the boxes with pen blanks, I decided that there must be an easier way -- and there was!
I grabbed a scrap piece of 3/4" pine for a base and a piece of 1/4" x 1" moulding. I folded up a box to use as a guide, made some empirical measurements, cut the moulding into strips, and hot glued them to the base around the box. Just being able to fold the box and press it down into the jig to hold it for loading was a huge time saver. I folded the top over, inserted the side tabs and lifted the full box right out of the jig before sealing down the flap. It's amazing how quick and simple little jigs can make doing unruly tasks so much easier.
If you ever struggle with these Priority Mail boxes, I highly recommend making some kind of jig - even if it is just a simple little thing like this.
