Thank you to all who entered the pretty wood contest. The final results are in.

Here are some interesting notes.

The winner came from group 1 and won that group with 69.6% of the vote with a total of 71 voting for it.
The second and third place entries came from group 2 with 62.4% and 60.4% (63 & 61 votes) respectively.

So in the final vote, the top three choices ended up in the top three spots. Seems as a group we were pretty consistent in which pens we considered the prettiest!

In third place:
Username: Mike8850 - 61 votes in round 1 (60.4%), 34 votes in round 2 (29.1%)
Third place prize is a BOB from kronewi

Second place prize is a Gift certificate from Mckenzies Pen Works for $50

Wow,I'm stunned. Looking at all the entries I was surprised my pen made it out of the first round. I'm relieved to have done justice to an awesome piece of wood. Dave @egnald did a great job pairing his wood with the Caballero, one of my favorite hardware packs. @Mike8850…congratulations!!
Each piece we work with has only existed once in all of time…there were 21 great examples on display!!
Thanks to all, especially @SteveJ for taking on the challenge!!

Wow! I am truly surprised and very - very appreciative of everyone that voted for my entry. The piece of wood is really what deserves the credit. It came from my exotic wood supplier from Sacramento who spends 5 to 6 months per year in Laos searching for such unique specimens. Congratulations to greenacres2 and Mike8850 also and Thank You very much SteveJ for running the contest. - Dave

Congratulations to the makers of the above three pens.
There were a good number of pens from the original 22 that could have made the podium as well, so well done to all the entrants.

No kidding, i'd have been happy anywhere in the top 25 in that assortment of wood and turning skill.

All three are really impressive--congratulations all. Given the size of the original photos, I was amazed that my entry also made it through the first round, although not surprised it didn't go any further. It was the cherry burl.

Mine was the Paella burl. I'm so thankful for everyone that voted for me. It was so hard trying to decide which one to enter. I had to choose from these 4 of my favorites, but went with the majestic jr. Paella burl is my new favorite wood!
