Will I don't know what he means by new. It is an A model.. I don't know where to go nor what to do it I did. I think I'd be buying myself trouble.

I'd steer clear of it. There is something that doesn't seem to make sense.

It appears to be new, but dropped in transport. Was it returned to the dealer and it is them selling it, or did the person who bought it drop it and can't claim to get it fixed? Either way, you'd think that if it was just the one part then it would be changed and then sold for more money. Or fixed and kept by the current buyer.

I'd suspect that the bed may be bent and either the dealer or whoever knows that it is not worth repairing.

Buyer beware!!

I didn't see the dent in the head either. That thing had to hit pretty hard. I was also noticing all the rust on the ways, for a new lathe... That area is not that humid. I'm thinking you guys are correct. Besides I want a Oneway.

that's not a dent. It's part of the way the casting is formed. I have that model lathe and its a good lathe. it looks like it was severely miss treated in shipping or at the guys shop. I'd pass Paul.... save your money for a Oneway or a real new Powermatic.

So it was damaged during transport and not returned ? Now he wants to seel it for a huge loss?? Sounds fishy. I jut ordered my new Powermatic 3520B and got a Great deal....I think I'd stay with new rather than try this path

It is possible that it was a freight damage. Payment was made by the freight company. It was then worthless to them & simply let him keep it or sold it to him for a $100.00 to save the hassle of picking it up and getting rid of it.

Powermatic is manufactured by the same company that makes JET tools now. Last time I checked, the inverter was going to cost $700 from JET for the 1642 lathe that I had. If you do lean this way, price out the parts first. I would pass on this one.

If that's an 18-inch lathe, you can get an entire lathe from Laguna for ~$1800 with free shipping and a nice guarantee, or a very similar lathe from Grizzly for ~$1200 plus shipping. I'd pass.

I've been looking at that lathe so am kinda up on the pricing.
