Hi everyone, I have a Powermatic 35/20. I stopped using it because of the bearings, I had it unplugged for a few years before final changing the bearing (I have extra lathes so there was no hurry)
My problem is that when I pug it in, it does not work, it has the phase converter and that seems to work, I am thinking that it needs to be reprogrammed, does anyone know anything about this or how to reprogram the phase converter? Thanks.

Hi Chris - I'm not sure why the inverter / vfd would need to be reprogrammed. The settings should have survived the lathe being unplugged. Did you try pressing the red reset button on the inverter / vfd and see if that powered up the lathe?

I've had to do that once or twice after electrical spikes during lightning storms. I usually unplug the lathe when I see (hear) a big storm coming, but sometimes they sneak up on me.

If reset doesn't work and you don't get any other solutions here, I would suggest posting on the AAW forum. There are a couple of very knowledgeable members there (one has the manual for the inverter / vfd) that may be able to help you troubleshoot.

As far as calling powermatic, in the good old days someone would have likely been willing to talk you through it. These days I suspect you would most likely get told to take it to a service center.

Good luck.
