Well, now once again count myself amoung the unemployed. I retired last Feburary from the Sherrif Dept. and took a job on one day a week or when the postmaster vacationed or was needing a day off at the local PO. Just something for me to still be able to do the pens for the 2 groops I donate to ( pens of hope and pens for the troops). Well I received a certified letter on Friday that as of last day of August my job will no longer exist. . I had known that my job title would change and I would have to reapply for the position. I had put in an application 3 weeks ago on line for the new ( job I already do).job. I called the head office in Nashville and talked to the human resorces and was informed that they never recieved my application and I was not being considered for the new listing. ( job I already do). So due to my app. being lost in cyberspace a computer glitch either on their end, (I was told never happened), or my end I will be released next month, The postal service will have to totaly train someone to do what I do at the cost of aprox $10,000. when I could still work diong what I do. The lady in human resorce's told me herself that it wasn't right an the same thing had happened to a lot of others in this district and over this country. All of us as taxpayers should be mad that our tax dollars are being wasted because the postal union had our job, Postmaster Releif, reclassified and all of us have to reapply under the new classification. Mine along with others have to lose our job and we pay to train others to replace us, what a shame. Just had to rant. sorry......

Guess what? I just got a call from Bob Corker our Senator concerning my email to him and he said that he was going to check on the waste of our money (taxpayers) and see why I can not reapply for the job.

Sad thing is none of our tax dollars ever make it to the Post Office. Supposedly they are only supported by their sales of stamps and services, . Now for my gripe with them, they cry they need more money and have raised their fees several times recently, OK then why the bloody hell did they put all the time into their new more confusing than ever web site, the old one was confusing enough to navigate,

Well that sure draws a vacuum. Just remember the PO gets no tax money - hasn't since about 1971. They screw it up all by themselves.

Actually Congress keeps such a tight enough rein on the post office that they cannot run it like a business. They would be better off without any Congressional control. But that would take a Constitutional amendment, since the Constitution requires a postal system.

Actually the Constitution of the United States gives Congress the power to establish post roads and a post office - it does not require that it does so. See Article 1, Section 8 - of the US Constitution.
