Wife and I are travelling from Portland, Seattle and to Vancouver on a casual vacation. Any stops for a new pen maker. I have the woodcraft locations on the map. Maybe some northwest wood stores???? As always the help is appreciated.

Thanks

There is Rockler in Tukwilla, WA and Sumner Woodworking in Sumner, WA. They both carry pen kits as well as wood, with Sumner a lot better assortment of wood. You could also try Crosscut Hardwoods in seattle, you said you had the location of Woodcraft in Seattle. That's all I got.

Oh yea and I believe Lee Valley in Vancouver sells pen making kits too. If nothing else Lee Valley is an interesting store to see, no wood just tools.

Portland -- Wood Porn is to be had at Gilmer Wood --

Small red building with lot and lots and lots of burls, and more.

If you bring plastic or checkbook you will leave with bags/boxes and a much lighter finanacial condition.

Serious fancy woods and all size pieces.

Crosscut Hardwoods has a lot of wood and fairly easy access on and off of I-5. Wave as you pass through Smokey Point, I might wave back. When you are at Woodcraft ask to talk to Jay. He is also a member here.

I'll second the Crosscut suggestion. Lot's of choices there. The Woodcraft in Seattle has several pen makers and a fair selection of supplies. Very nice people there.

Have to second this comment! I work just up the street from here and it is very hard not to go there and dig through the cutoff bins! be sure to check out the big barrels by the back door for some great deals on the scrap lumber!

Oh yeah, and the guys working there are nice too....
