Ran across these while shopping with the wife at lowes and she mentioned she had a few $25 off a $250 or more coupons plus I get a 10% military discount so did some math and it is not a bad price.
I am currently using a delta bench top press I have had for years and the craftsman band saw is from the early 80,s and I have to tune it often cutting the amount of anter's I turn.

Not wanting to waste cash but I am leaning towards this is a upgrade and your input is valued if you have these or have used one please post up,

PORTER-CABLE 13-5/8-in 10-Amp Band Saw 399.99 before any discounts

PORTER-CABLE 8-Amp 12-Speed Drill Press $299.99 before any discounts

Thanks for any input!

I think it has pretty good reviews. I don't personally know any owners.

It is a jet clone like many others. It seems to have better quality control that some of the lower priced versions (harbor freight)

I have a 14" bandsaw of the same basic design that's a craftsman professional. I am happy with it. Looming over the build quality of the Porter cable, it's seems to be the same or slightly better build quality.

What's nice is that it's almost infinitely upgradable with accessories and replacement parts.

When you calculate the final price, see where it's at compared to the grizzly which has good reviews as well.

pretty good tools

I've looked at the Porter CAble tools at Lowes, they seem pretty much the same as Jet, Grizzly, etc. If the price is good, go for it. Myself, I like to browse Craigslist and get a gently used tool for much less, but that involves time, effort to run around, trust, and some time and money to tune it all up. That said, I have been happy with every Craigslist purchase I've made. I also check the local pawnshops. God knows, in my day I've lost some good tools to the pawn broker, and so have others.

Back to CL, I got my Jet lathe (1014vs with stand and nova chuck and Wolverine sharpening jig) all for less than the cost of the lathe alone. jig and chuck brand new in box, lathe barely used. It's getting used plenty now!!

Well I was blessed to find my lathe on CL turns out a local guy had it.
been looking for other stuff not alot comes on CL around here as far as saw ect ect

I have a Ported Cable Drill Press and it works well. It does nothing specifically different than others and it does it well. It is a tool and it works.

I just bought the porter and cable band saw and am very happy with it. Especially the fact its very quiet compared to the craftsmen I just sold. I also added a riser block to get the 12" resawing capacity. The riser kit I bought need quite a bit of modifications but it worked out ok. You cant buy a 1 1/2 HP anywhere near the price of this unit, which I really wanted for cutting bowl blanks.
