This is not finished or pretty but it functions. Dad loves his porch rocker but was having trouble getting up from it and Mom had difficulty helping him up. I thought that I would give this a try but was worried about the stability of it. It is surprisingly stable. I could have done a better job with my table saw but had to work with a skill saw and chisel.

Cody,
That is fantastic! Sometimes these things which we think are not a big thing really are a big thing! A true labor of love!

In three months, you will see these on QVC made from plastic

For those concerned about stability ....

Deeper guiderails could keep the rocker from sliding off the sides or twisting on the rails ....

A stability brace across the center between the two long pieces and one in the back to keep the assembly from twisting out of position.

This way, someone passing the chair can accidentally kick it and nothing untoward should happen.

Mind the cat's tail .... :)

And ... why is your pappy SIDEWAYS???????
