Polishing the inside of a barrel?

Let's say I wanted to make a demonstrator fountain pen. How would one go about polishing or micromeshing the inside of a barrel?

Use a dowel of the proper size and length. Then cut a slit in the end to accommodate your polishing papers. Then have fun.
