I recently purchased a group of 15 Daycom Polaris pens from a seller on e-bay. 5 had defective transmissions. (Seller is replacing them) Is this a usual problem for this kit?

Yes.....I just started making these, so far have done 2---and one of them has a defective twist mechanism. I am at 50% failure rate with this. Love the style though....

IDK. I get my Atlas (Polaris) kits from WC. I haven't had any failures as of yet.
Someone that has the know, are they the same kit?

I haven't had problems with the transmission in that kit. However, I did get a batch that had clips that were extremely breaky. 'My supplier' happily sent me a new batch of clips, but I haven't risked them yet.

I get mine from Penn State and have never had a problem with the twist type.
