We've had stopped drains a few times over the last 7 years, paid the $75 to have the plumber use his roto rooter to clear the lines. Today my wife was doing the laundry and our walk in shower drain started to fill the shower. Called my plumber figured another $75 down the drain:rolleyes: (pun intended). No...No camel breath....somewhere between $1100 and $1500 not counting re doing my front lawn after the backhoe is finished with it.:frown: Seems the sewer lines are collapsed.
Made in the 60's out of clay.....when it:umbrella:it pours.....75 feet of 4 inch PVC pipe at about $2 a foot.

when it:umbrella:it pours.....

You got that right! :frown:
The main thing is to keep it flowing "downhill"
But no matter how you slice it .... It STINKS!!! (no pun intended)
Sorry to hear of your toubles!

Wow...I have not had that bad a luck with the plumbing, but I feel you on the roto rooter stuff! There's a little s curve way down the line hooking up to the main septic lead, and the gravity angle in that curve is less than desired, so things sometimes build up there and that is about 30 foot from the kitchen sink. Tends to cost me on average $100 to have that rootered due to some uh...well, thoughtless counterpart of mine..stuffing the disposal with strawberry tops, potatoe skins, or the worste ever, pasta noodles! You know it..." I thought they would just flow through with the water, not stop, dry up and weld themselves to be one with the pipe!" she says...

Been there...Done that

Look on the bright side you could have to replace the Septic tank (if you have one) and put in a new leach field also....40 years ago that ran me about $1500.

I had to do the same thing about 5 years ago. Cost me over twice that.

Roy, If you are interested, My best friend is a Plumber for a pretty big plumbing company. I can have them give you a second bid. Might save a few bucks. Just pm me if interested.

$2 a foot seems like a bargain considering the alternatives. I gather it just isnt a good time to have to do it.

What is it with you and your pipes. First the pipe lines to your heart needed cleaning and now the ones to you septic system. And they say the ECONOMY is in the toilet.

Say, Mary tried to find your stall three times during the Bayou show. She wanted you to know she DID try.

Hey Roy. Since you already have the plumber there, get him to roteroute the internal plumbing for you. I guarentee it will cost less than when your doctor does it.:biggrin::eek:

Tell Mary thanks for trying we were on the corner of Bagby and Mckinnley.

If the breakage is in your yard and not under the street just rent a backhoe and do it yourself. Putting in PVC sewer line is not difficult even splicing it in to the remaining clay line. Had to do it myself many years ago on my first house. You can get everything you need at HD or Lowes (except the backhoe).

I think it's more that plumbing hates me. Any little repair is 6 trips to Lowes, 3 stiff drinks, and a couple of nerve pills.

Roy, I just had a water heater go out and was unable to replace myself as I am hobbled with a foot injury right now. The total bill was $1100. Seems the water heater that I had was no longer in code with the city and the plumber, having to have a permit had to get the city inspector to buy off on the work. Now my A$$ is hurting worse than my foot but the hot shower does make it feel better.

I like plumbing it pays me very well but can be a pain in the behind.I'm very cheap compared to Roto Rooter and still make a good living. But when plumbing starts to go lots of parts can go all at once,or just touch old stuff can make it fall apart.Old gal. is the most fun to repair, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.Sorry about the bad luck on the pipes,Victor
