I am working on a commission for a customer. I will be using plexiglass as the finish. I have the mixture made. Now for the question. In the past for the finial polishing step I used EEE from PSI. Can I still use this or will it problems with the finish.

Thanks

Alan

Alan when I first strarted using the plexiglass finish I was using the Hut wax sticks and had no problems with it. I did stop using it though and now just use a scratch remover and then a regular car wax.

EEE is a TERRIBLE buffing compound for any finish or plastic. The abrasive is tripoli (read: triple-"e", EEE). This is insanely abrasive compared to say, Novus or Hut PPP or my personal favorite final step, 3M's Finesse-It II (used after 12,000 MM, looks unreal).

All it seems to me to be is a wax mixed with tripoli. It does make a nice abrasive as a final wood sanding if you are going to use friction polish (not recommended as a durable finish).

I make it myself. Grind a stick of tripoli in a blender with water (use a yard-sale blender). Pour in a jar and let the powder settle out in 10 mins. Pour off the water and pour the powder paste onto a paper plate, let it air dry into a fine powder. Mix it with any paste wax, mineral spirits, etc.... Works just the same as the $15 a can stuff.

BTW, I have a small amount that I now rarely use. I consider it almost pointless when I have micromesh laying around.
