Pizza peel

Here is pizza peel I made this past week. Can't wait to put it into use. Made of poplar with no finish. Approximately 15" wide.

And to put it in the oven. I make pizza on my grill. I've been thinking of a wooden peel. Mine is metal, and the dough sticks if I leave it on the peel to long. I use more & more corn starch, but it still sticks. I'm thinking wood is the answer.

Use cornmeal on the peel. It allows the dough to come right off and adds a nice texture to the crust. Cornstarch will turn into glue with a little moisture.

Cornmeal or better yet semolina is what I used when I was in the biz.
