Pen in the hat. If way all got together we would all bring a pen a drop it the hat. Then pull out a random pen. Since are scattered across the globe, we sign up then are given a partner at random to trade with. We just finished up the fall PITH.

Btw welcome to forums. Check out the library for some great info.

PITH stands for 'Pen In The Hat' and is a way to trade pens with fellow turners. Comes from the days when pen turners would meet and all throw a pen they made into a hat and wold later draw one out to take home.

What they do here -- and elsewhere -- is to gather all the participant names and randomly assign two turners to create and share pens between themselves. Once the pens are made, shipped AND received by the partners, they are usually shown to the other members of IAP.
