Pine Cones

How do you all cut your pine cones down for casting.????
Me- I just run them through the band saw. Just wondering if there is a better way.

I use a disk sander to get them to fit the mold I am using, then band saw to final size I need for turning.

Disc sander works great for me as well. I only sand three sides and leave the one side high in the mold so I can weight it down to keep it from floating.
