You say that your mill is 10". I'm assuming that you are meaning the overall length 10".
That being the case your body will be about 8" long. To drill this length you don't need an extension. When roughing out the body leave a spigot on what will be the top of the base. Drill first up through the bottom of the body as far as you can go. Remove from the chuck and insert the base either into the opening for the mechanism you will have made or make a jam chuck to fit the base. Then drill down into the top of the base until it meets the already drilled hole.
The big advantage of this is that the body hole will be parallel to the body because the drill has not had the chance to wander, which it will if you try drilling all the way through.
