Penn State Mechanical Pencil Question

I have and issue with the top slipping and the transmission will not turn can anyone help me with a fix

It would help to know which kit and it sounds more like a twist pen rather than a pencil.

I am not sure about the pencil but I have had some problems with some of their pens. While writing with the pen the tip will slowly retract. This has happened on 2 of my twist pens from them.
