The Readers Choice Awards for Pen World Magazine have been posted and Barry Gross has been nominated in the "Just for Fun" category for his Tempus Pen (watch pieces). For those members who subscribe to Pen World Magazine, I'm sure he would appreciate your consideration. Barry has been instrumental in the development of a lot of pen turners through his books, dvd's, and instruction classes.

Thank you,

I agree totally. Plus, he is one heck of a nice guy. Barry will be at the LA Pen Show later this month. Go by (or go buy) to see him if you are attending. I know Barry would appreciate your vote for The Tempus Pen in the "just for fuin" category.

Also, in the "Sports Theme" caregory, Mark and Brian Gisi have a pen in the voting. The pen, #7 Tribute, is a tribute to Mickey Mantle and incorporates wood from a mantle bat and design elements reminiscent of Yankee Stadium. Mark and Brian are nice guys also and would appreciate your vote in the sports theme category.

Thanks Wayne for bringing this to our attention.

Do a good turn daily!
Don

Virgil,

Your right. I did forget to mention what a great guy Barry is. You would think, since he taught me how to turn pens and has been my mentor, I would have mentioned that first.

Barry should be at the woodworking show here Feb 19. I will get to see him there as always and see what exciting things he has to offer again. Seeing his pens up close is a great pleasure.

I just checked my December issue of Pen world so I assume it is in the February issue which my book store hasn't got yet. Did you see the article in the December issue on Kurt Hertzog? Kurt was just elected to the Board of Directors of the American Association of Woodturners. its great to see supporters of our penturning family receive recognition for their dedication to penturning and woodworking. UPDATE: Looks like Barry won. I was just at his website and there is a picture of the trophy from PEN World magazine. Congratulations Barry.
