Pen Turning Shows

I am new to pen turning and so far I am enjoying it. However , Does anyone know of any pen turning shows, where the vendors and pen turners show up to purchase items, exchange ideas, learn about techniques an just talk?

I don't know of any upcoming shows but I do recommend that you try and attend one of the annual pen gatherings. The Midwest is meeting in Chicago next year. Closer to your neck of the woods is the South East (I think that is what it is called). They usually meet in Georgia. Hopefully someone from that committee will chime in.

Locate the closest Woodcraft store. They offer classes in pen turning. My grandson and I have attended one at different times. Well worth the $$$. Go to www.woodturner.org for a list of local chapters. The chapters will have demonstrations of various techniques, etc., that I have found to be invaluable. Each state should have a woodturning club.

There are gatherings that offer a lot. I see the Southeast above - well worth looking into.

There are also numerous local chapters to check out. Chicago chapter draws around 40 - 50 each meeting.

And I know the AAW at the annual symposiums generally have classes in pen making.
