Well, it happened, the knob that secures the moving rod on my pen press is stripped. The threads on the collar bolt are also stripped. I guess I'll just drill it out and rethread it. I guess I will need a bigger Knob screw.

I never used a pen press to assemble a pen. Do use a bench vice or wood clamps for assembly. Thought about getting a Harbor Freight, arbor press for pen assembly

Saw a jig other day guy uses his lathe for pen assembly, cannot find it this morning, Other people use their drill press for assembly.

Woodturning online and library here have an example of a homemade wood pen press.

I always found adjusting the length to be annoying so I stopped adjusting it. Now I have a few small block of wood and place in front of it to make it shorter. Different blocks for different pens. It's much easier.

I use a 20 ton shop press. It's overkill but I did change the air jack out with a hydraulic one. I have learned to stop before the cracking sound starts.

I just use a hammer!

Just kidding. The thought made me laugh anyway. I use a drill press or when I want to be extra careful I use my lathe.
