We recently moved from Calf. to Texas. Most of our stuff is in a small 10 X 12 storage area. I had forgotten to leave my pen press out and started to make some pens. I could have pressed them together using a vise or clamp or even using a hammer. We went to search through boxes piked high to the ceiling looking for this pen press. Just as we were to give up we saw one plastic bin by the door. The rest of the story only comes natural, the press was in the bin next to the door.

You didn't stay in CA long. It has taken 6 month to find stuff I packed up for remodel project and I labeled the boxes. Last week I cleaned out my shop and garage and found stuff I didn't know I was missing.

My son made the comment the other day: "Dad, when we move, you're going to need a whole U-Haul just for this stuff!" As he was pointing to my tools. This after he looked up and realized how much stuff hangs from the garage roof. The good thing is, I usually forget what's hanging above my head and look EVERYWHERE for it!

Heck that happens in the shop everyday. I know I put it.........

Isn't so frustrating when you put some thing in a special place so you wont lose it then can't remember the special place............
OR when you are working with a certin tool you have not move more than 5 feet from the lathe and can't find the tool...
OR ..... I can't remember the last one

As the old saying goes, it's always in the last place you look.:biggrin:

Back when I was working, I was transferred from Houston up to the Dallas office... the company hired a moving company - another division - to move me and the truck showed up before the packers were finished...so thing were moved to the garage, packed and loaded on the truck... every box got marked "Garage - Misc"..... we only stayed in Dallas 6 months and moved back to Houston... a year later we were still finding dishes, toasters, etc... in boxes marked "Garage - misc"....

Don't you just love it when that happens. I know where everything is, it's in my shed.
If we ever move from here I will give up wood working. There is no way I could move all my stuff.

Bob.
