Pen from Pool Cue Scraps

I turned this pen from a blank I was sent by 8ball48043. It was a blank from scraps left over from making pool cues from what I understand. The pen turned out nice, but not quite as nice as it could have if the veneers were more centered into the blank. I did what I could with it, but wish some of the veneers from the original blank could have been represented in the final product.

Looks interesting Eric. Can't really tell, but it appears to be some sort of butterfly splice.

And, yes. We now realize that a lot less wood is visible in an item as thin as a pen, versus how much of the 'twists' remain on larger items such as pool cues.

That is why I offered the blanks up here. So that we might learn.

The wood is really AWESOME. Very unique made using a patented process.
