I received an email entitled:
"PayPal Maintenance: Final Data Center Upgrade Reminder – April 19, 2012"
and it even had my name as a salutation.
Here is the email -
As we close in on April 19, the date of our data center upgrade, we wanted to send you a final reminder of this upcoming maintenance which will have impact on many of PayPal's products and features. The timeline of activities and anticipated impacts for April 19 are defined on the PayPal Site Status page and can be found here.
To ensure you are up to date on the latest information about this system upgrade, please go to this blog post regarding this event before or during the migration. If you experience issues with processing after the 'all clear' has been given, please notify our Merchant Technical Support (MTS) team by filing a ticket.

If you have any questions about this announcement, please don't hesitate to contact us. We truly appreciate your patience as we work to upgrade our services and apologize for any inconvenience we cause your organization as a result of this work.
Sincerely,

I forwarded it to spoof@paypal.com and they confirmed it is bogus.

Pretty much any email you get from anyone that has anything to do with finances, personal informaiton, etc is a phishing email. You shoud never never never profide personal or financial data that is requested through emai....no matter how legitimate it might appear. They are very good at making stuff look like it comes from the actual financial institution.

Most of the time you can hover the cursor over the link...such as in Monty's email above and you can see the actual URL. Most times it has nothing to do with the institution that the email refers to. Sometimes the smarter ones will put the name of the institution in the link.

Basic rule, you will never get a request from a legit institution for anything like that. If you are unsure, always call the institution and ask.
