Partridge in a Pear Tree?? Maybe not.

I've been trying to get some of this timber for quite a while, and finally found a dead branch on Friday. It was only about 2in diameter and had a lot of worm activity, but so far I've cut three blanks from it.
This one I just turned round and did a bad CA finish on it because I just couldn't wait any longer. There are lots of things happening right now and I just HAD to do it.
The wood is Xylomelum angustifolium, the West. Aussie Woody Pear tree.
The heart wood is a soft pink and other wood is a creamy brown/grey and has lots of grain, a little bit like Sycamore.
Hope you like it, there may be a couple of blanks available sometime in the future.

I think that Bob would know if was Grevillea, by the simple fact that, I almost killed him a couple of years back by sending him a beautiful root ball, that I salvaged but didn't know exactly what it was.. I was making lots of round bowl blanks for Bob then and I asked if he would like to have it included in the order.

I had cleaned the soil and debris already so, I trimmed it into a beautiful round blank that had a lot of potential. When he received it and decided to take it for a spin (rough turn it) in the lathe, he had a horrendous allergic reaction that put him in hospital for days, with a painful and slow recovery after that.

It scared the life out of me, and scared the life out of Bob, also. He is now very careful to any of the wood species of that family, including the Silky-Oak that, I made the mistake recently a send it 1 x stabilized cross cut blanks, that I didn't realise what I was doing but Bob, did identified it immediately and put it a side, (glad he did...!)

I'm sorry Bob, that I'm bringing the subject out, every-time I hear Grevillea now, I think of you, mate...!

I will never forget that...!

On the other hand, I have at least 4 wood species that I could swear that, was the wood species on Bob's thread, terrible identical, indeed...!

Bob, I hope I didn't send you any Grevillea blanks in the swap we just did, I can't remember if I put any in the box.

Edit- I wasn't doubting that Bob had the right name of his timber, I was just commenting that it looked like some Grevillea's.

It does look like Grevillea and a bit like some Banksia's as well. I believe that in the bigger parts of this Pear tree the wood is quite dark and very grainy, which could also apply to green harvested wood. Sadly I was only able to liberate this dead branch from a growing tree, so there is no doubting it's species.

And NO, you didn't send me any Grevillea in that swap. BTW I still have not used any of those wonderful bits you sent me. But I will, soon.

I still haven't used any of your blanks yet either, though I do have a piece of that Conkerberry earmarked for a pen when I get over some of my backlog.

I should let you know that one of your Conkerberry blanks has made its way over to the US in a package that I sent off a few weeks ago. I am sure it will be put to good use over there.
