My family and I were on the news tonight. Our dog went missing about two weeks ago and was gone for about six days. I had made signs and posted them all over town. I had 20 or 30 phone calls from people offering condolences, wishing me luck and offering to help. Eventually someone found him and he is now home. A neighbor passed our story to the local news station for a segment called "Good News". Here is the result...

Yay! About 11 years ago, our newly adopted rescue dog chewed his way through his chain-link dog run and was on the lam for 6 days. Thank goodness the first thing we did was give him a tag with our phone number - the people who found him were well outside the range we had put up posters. And he had crossed the Washington Beltway! He was probably heading back to his foster home in NJ.

Anyway, lost pet stories so often have tragic endings, and I'm so happy for you that you got him back. That really is "good news".

Always happy to hear "good news stories." Thrilled that you got your pup back - I know it's awful when you are going through that.

Thanks guys. Of course we are happy to have him back, but the interesting lesson in this whole ordeal is how willing people were to help someone they had never met before. I had total strangers call me to tell me they would be looking for him. One guy called and told me he had the day off so he was going to spend it looking for my dog. It really does give you good felling regarding your fellow man.

You are quite lucky, mine was gone for 6 mos. After three months I gave up and got another from the shelter. Three mo. After that I get the phone call. Now I have 2 and guess which one never leaves my side.
