Was wondering what other hobbies people have or do I havent been on here for awhile when the weather gets warm I head outside. Me and the wife camp as much as we can but we also attend old tractor shows and engine shows to show off our 1934 D John Deere and our 1914 Hercules 5hp hit miss engine which was used by my great grandfather.
Still try and make a pen our two and when I get a orders in.

Yep I can relate to that. We camp too, and head for the hills.

Usually I disappear over winter though to go snowboarding.
I get shot multiple times playing Airsoft (similar to paintball)
I'm an advanced open water wreck diver. pic below was about 100ft deep in the North sea while diving some german WWII ships

First collect the old cast iron power tools. I have about 20 something old cast iron lathes. Most set up without motors, but they are all in working condition. I have one motor that gets rotational duty for when I wanted to play with them. Unfortunately health issues keep them on the shelf. I have several old cast iron scroll saw, but never use them, they sit there and collect dust. Currently looking for an Atlas table saw, that will give me a table saw, scroll saw, and 2 lathes, one metal and one wood.

I used to do quite a bit of leatherwork, but eyesight has slowed that down to every once in awhile on simpler thinks, same with woodcarving projects. I taught myself to engrave, but again eyesight has just about killed that hobby, but I still dabble in it when I get an urge to play with the engraving tools. More of a jack of all trades, but not really a master of any of them.

old engines

Building model engines.

I dug this up, the river ran dry a few years ago.
All that could be seen was about 2 inches of the top of one of the wheels .
Someone had set a radiator over the top and over the years fill with mud .
Digging was all but impossible and tons of broken glass .
Lot of little wire like tire spokes, the dirt was loose enough but all the trash made it allot harder .

Took me and another guy all day to get it out of the ground .

1887 Webster upright or vertical hit and miss engine .
The engine sold to a guy who owns another machine shop in town .
I bent the crack shaft pulling it out or the crank was already bent .
The piston was ( not ) rusted solid, the cylinder was cracked and the crank has been straightened .

This is the bottom of the engine because the engine stands up on end .

The engine is coming back to life slowly .

Wow that's a rare engine believe it or not I've seen worse come back to life I have a 1914 early E Hercules engine that my great grandfather used.
As fare as the tractor goes it was restored when I bought it but it had been sitting for awhile the gentleman that did it got sick and passed before he could enjoy it and after 6yrs the kids finally decided to sell it I got it running but seals are leaking here and there and kinda hard to find parts for a eighty two year old tractor.

I enjoy making musical instruments, painting portraits and wildlife, ceramics, and a handful of other things - samples:

I still do leatherwork every now & then, as I've done for years. I've done it since I was old enough to read, about age 6 or so. I like to cook too, so at least I'll never starve to death.
I like to go looking thru flea markets & estate sales now & then because you just ever know what you will find.
I used to like to camp out before I became disabled, now it's just too much work & strain on me. I like to tinker with stuff to see how it works. I was rewiring lamps at age 10. I can do most anything, but I don't have the stamina I used to have.
I enjoy woodworking, but it's frustrating sometimes because I can't get my body to co-operate with my mind's wishes. :frown:

Rare as those engines are they sale dirt cheap, I found them on the internet for 800.00 running I was way happy to get 500.00 out of that one ..

I found this in the dessert to
Still pumps water but the tank is filled with sand.

And this

I believe it is a 34 paddy wagon

I do a lot of flat work--presently, more than I turn--and my wife and I have built or renovated a couple of houses.
