Did it take forever for them to ship your order? How long does it take to pull your order and get it in a box and out the door?
It took an hour after I pushed the pay button before I got the it's shipped email, a whole hour geeze. Amazon better up there game.

Then I placed an Order with Exotic Wood Zone and they took 4 days to ship.

Only reason I tried the wood zone is I couldn't find what I wanted at Exotic Blanks or The Woodworkers Source.

This is just another fine example of how top notch Dawn and Ed are at Exotic Blanks. If I order in the morning it usually ships out the same day. Late afternoon orders might ship early the next morning. I'm also fortunate that there is a speedy route for the USPS between Racine and Columbus, NE. If it ships on Wednesday I usually get it on Friday. It's hard to beat. - Dave

After years of pen making I tried Exotic Blanks. Usually better prices, incredibly fast shipping, handwritten thank you note and a pkg of peanut m&m's.
Absolutely and unquestionably the best service I've ever received from ANY company, not just pen making. I can't imagine any company that's better to deal with.

Hmmm. Ordering and shipping can depend on when the order is placed. If before a certain time of the day, it can ship that afternoon. Or if there is a large number of orders, they are pulled and shipped in the order received. I have been here for a while and have seen that Exotic Blanks has a great reputation.

... and you wonder why you waited so long. Yep, top notch products and service! Best mix and match discount policy anywhere, too. My only complaint is that the "contact us" on the website doesn't get much attention, but response is great via email or phone. When I type an "E" in my browser address bar, it auto-fills with Exotic Blanks

I have family way up in the Northwoods. I'd love to stop in next time I go up for a visit, but I also need to stop at O&H Danish Bakery. Trader Joe's has me hooked on their Kringles.

Oh my, I wonder if we could talk Ed into putting some of those in the package. - Yum!
I guess I could go there myself - It's not the time it takes to get there, its the 9 1/2 hour drive back home that would be a killer.
That and the money I would dole out for goodies (pen kits, baked goods, and Spotted Cow).

I also live within driving distance of Exotic Blanks. A couple of summers ago I took a drive to Racine, looking for the address on their website. I found their building, but there is no store front. I knocked on a side door, and Ed answered. I asked if there was an actual store I could shop at, and he told me no, but he invited me in and gave me a tour of their building. Ed walked me around the small business. There was pen stuff everywhere. Ed took 20 minutes out of his busy day to show me around and explain how you can order kits from different companies, and still get a discount for buying multiples. He even gave me a couple of blanks to try out. Ed also mentioned that you can place your order and pick it up in person. You just need to let them know. I have shopped pretty regularly with Exotic Blanks online since then.

I didn't think there was a store front, I had thought of driving up there, I thought I called a couple years ago and asked. I thought the guy (I assume Ed said they were hoping to have a storefront but could be wrong. I haven't been to Racine in some time. I do miss the Woodcraft store in Libertyville, IL (I suppose the instant gratification of having the items. )

I hear you. I had to make a trip to Omaha, NE yesterday and couldn't resist stopping at WoodCraft on my way back out of town. Ordering from their catalog or online is nice, but you just don't get to see the deals that are going on. I picked up some Claro Walnut blanks, about 3" x 4" x 6" off of a pallet that they were clearancing out. Some pretty nice chunks of wood for less than $3. - Dave

I have always had great experiences ordering from Ed and Dawn. Not only do they process your orders right away, buy their service is very personalized. I think the fact that many of us talk about placing orders with "Ed and Dawn" vs simply using their company name (i.e placing orders with Exotic Blanks) is very evident of the personalized service they provide.

I ordered at 10am on the 23rd and the package was delivered to Ogden Utah on the 25th. That's pretty close to instant satisfaction. And this isn't a one off from Exotic Blanks.

Ed & Dawn have provided me with nothing but excellent service. I even had a small, issue with a live center that I had purchased. I contacted the via there contact email. Ed went and disassembled a live center like it and gave me a personal phone call and gave me instructions for a simple fix. Also, I really like there Diamond Knurl pen kits. Just saying……Smokey
Also, what is this M&Ms y'all are referring to. Always when I get home my order box is already open and for some reason I never find any M&M. oh, I wonder why………

Yup - I don't get the M&M's either. - Happy Wife - Happy Life! - Dave

I realize this thread is a little old, but it just came up in the "Similar threads" and it is the first I remember seeing it.

Just want to say THANKS!!! to all of you for your kind words. After over a decade of selling pens at shows and buying from the suppliers, I knew what we could do to improve---basically we try to treat you the way we wish we were treated years ago! We know we can't please ALL the people, but in over a decade we have kept the great majority!! Thanks for noticing and thanks for returning often!!!

Stop by to view our Zoom calls!! Usually the third Thursday of the month, ALWAYS announced in my Sunday eamail.

Dawn & Ed

A single source, with one of the largest inventories, fairly-priced, pay shipping once, and always get honest answers from Ed and Dawn. I rather have to call or write Ed or Dawn multiple times and get then right answer than, get a CS rep right away and get the wrong answer.

We have several suppliers that run their businesses the same - don't mean not to acknowledge/praise them.

I have a peanut allergy and probably have 30-40 bags of peanut m&ms lying around the house and shop at all times thanks to Ed. I wish I had a nickel for the amount of times I've said "hey, you like peanut m&ms?" 😂
I have 5 & 7 year old girls and they can't even make a dent.

And yeah, their shipping is crazy. Either they utilize some sort of space time anomaly or they're mixing Colombian powdered sugar into their coffee…
Ed, confirm or deny.

I would say you have a larger problem. You have an obsession to keep sending money to the postal service. You may want to rethink your order strategy and combine orders now and then. 🤔 Just saying.

If you note on your order that you prefer no peanut, you will get chocolate M's. No peanuts.
Ed, you guys really are the best. I love it.

My wife asks me what is in the box when I bring it in the house and has a wry smile when I say it's her latest order of M&M's.

Hate to admit but first time I ordered from Exotic Blanks. They aren't too far from me. I ordered some Alumilite blanks. Getting excited to turn them. I feel I should now this, Ed owns it? ed4copies
Same here. Fast service ...all good. I do not use much lately but will order again as needed. Only complain and it's reasonable ... the M&M's came in crushed. I hate when my nuts get busted😂
