I am trying to come up with an idea for a pen to make for an optometrist. I have a vision of some how incorporating a magnifying glass some where in the instrument. Any ideas are welcome.

If you do a rollerball or fountain you could tap the cap and mount the glass to it...

you could decal an eye chart on it.

I am thinking about a magnifying glass with a decal of an eye ball under it.

could take a clear round crystal and inset in finial with eyeball underneath.

Have one of the brass tube artists paint a "mural" of an eye on the tube or similar, cast it, turn it, gift it.

John, it was great you posted this! I work with the wife of my (our families) Optometrist. I bought my prescription sunglasses just before Christmas...half down, half when you pick up. I went to pick them up a few weeks ago and he wanted a pen in lieu of the balance. I was extremely!!! happy to comply and my wife was more than happy to say "buy more kits"!! Now he want's to carry pens in his office. Good things can come from this!!

While doing so, I went to the Google and found where we can make polymer eyes. A sheet of white, a thin sheet of light blue and a tiny tube of dark rolled, sliced and shaped. Then draw small blood lines. Put it into Alumilite, turn and wala. Now if I can dig out my Alumilite stuff.

My wife is a master optician contact lens specialist and I posed your question to her. She gave me an answer right away regarding an Optomitrist symbol. I am away from home at the moment and don't recall what she called it, but if you PM I'll ask her again when I get home tonight and pass it on to you.

Have a StanHope made with an eye chart in it.........he can look through it and check out the chart.
