Fred: I didn't cast the blanks. They are store-bought solid black acrylic.

I have a small Taig metal lathe and the mill slide for it. I made a jig so that I could hold the pen vertically and rotate it exactly the same number of degrees from centre for the horizontal bar of the cross. I glue the tube in after I've cut the cross, then fill with 5 minute epoxy mixed with white pearl mica.
