It is the end of quarter for my students and one of my 6th graders asked to stay after to complete an assignment. I asked if his mom knew. He said no so I told him to use the phone in my classroom call her.
Since I was monitoring the halls he went into my room by himself to call. He's a good kid and his mom would kill him if he did something wrong. All of a sudden my phone rings, he answers it as I walk in
Then the office staff bust into my room in a panic and he is answering some weird questions: his name, the school's name, his mom's name and where she works.
Apparently he dialed 9 to get out, 1 for the long distance call, then forgot he already dialed the 1 and did it again then hung up on the 911 operator. The cops wanted to talk to me, then to him again and by the time it was over his eyes were big as saucers and tearing up. Poor guy.
one day until vacation starts.
