One way 1224… thoughts?

Looking at purchasing this lathe today locally. $850 listing price and comes with all of the accessories. Research I've done leads me to believe that this is a great lathe at a great price.

Thoughts? Anything particular to look at on the lathe before buying?

This is a fantastic lathe. It's made right here in Ontario, Canada. Oneway is considered one of the Cadillac woodlathes.
The 1224is the smallest of the OneWays, but it's great. Very solid, and tons of power and torque.
That is definitely a "START THE CAR" price tag on it. It is well under half price new.

I have been using one for about 9 years now and love it. I recently put it up for sale, but not from any fault of the lathe. It is just way overkill for what I am using it for, and the extra funds are needed towards other endeavours.

My recommendation would be to grab it before someone else does.

With the three chucks and live tailstock stuff visible you are approaching halfway on the price being asked. That lathe is a bargain.

What are you waiting for? They have always been a top flight lathe and the smaller version is just as good as their larger ones which really dominate the market for quality lathes. That is alot of extras too that will save you big $$$

Seems like the spindle speed flattens out at about eight on the dial. I can't be certain on the RPMs that it's at, but I would guess it about 27 to 2800. I am on the second pulley. What might be causing that? Could it be amp draw? Not sure of the circuit size it's on.

I would second Curly. Oneway customer service is great.

Not sure about the dial. Mine only has 8 graduations. It still revs up slightly when I pass that, but not much.
Low end, which is the second pulley, is supposed to top out at about 2000rpm. That's about what mine does. I'm guessing this by comparing my little General fixed pulley set to 1950rpm. Oneway seems a hair faster.
