Please tell me that I can get a switch for my Turncrafter Pro VS somewhere other than PSI. This is the on/off switch. I emailed them the other day asking if they sold this part and still havnt heard from them. Suprise Suprise.
Has anyone had to buy one ? And where did you get it?

Thanks
Rich H.

Take the switch off the lathe. The switch comes apart by releasing the tabs. There are two brass tabs inside that seem to flatten out over time and, eventually don't make good contact or, they slip to the side or both. Put a little more bend in the tabs and, re-assemble. You're not the first one with this problem  If this doesn't work, you may have to wait for PSI. Sorry

BTW, unplug the power cord first !!!!

If you have no luck, or want to price shop once you hear from PSI, then go check Digi-Key. They have an online catalog of sorts,so you can get to the switches section, and then flip thru the pages, which might help some. They ahve LOTS of switches, so you may need to put in some filters for switch type so you aren't scrolling thru 100s of pages.

Also check out Mouser or Newark. I just checked Allied, and you can view heir catalog pages, so this might be the easiest way to find something.

Hey Chuck Took that switch out and apart. You were right the metal contacts were bent. So I straighted them out and it working great. I think I will try and find another one anyways. The contact points are getting wore down. I emery clothed them and they look better but will not last forever.
Thank everyone for the replys.

Rich, if the contacts are wearing down, the switch is arcing internally and is likely too small for the current load. I'd recommend replacing it with one that has a higher load rating when you get around to the job.

Glad that worked out for you Rich. I fixed mine about 300 pens ago. No more problems so far.
