This is a oil lamp I turned. Made from a piece of maple I won on eBay for .99. I glued a piece of walnut burl to the bottom to create the pedestal look. Finished with 2 coats of tung oil, sanded with 0000 steel wool and two coats of friction polish.

That is nice, Marc. The different darker wood on the base gives it nice contrast.

Do you worry about having the small flame so close to the wood? I saw on someone's website that they don't make/sell them anymore due to liability issues. I would think the same might be true of wooden candlesticks?
