Somehow I messed up the female threads that with accept the section as I described above (I think my collect chuck was loose). I was thinking of saving the kitless pen by making the threads wider. They are currently 8.5mm (9/32 hole for the 8.5mm tap), can I go to 9mm or 10mm. Thoughts? Thank you.

How much extra length do you have at the closed end of the barrel blank?

If there's plenty, you could simply cut off the bad threads and do over, drilling a bit deeper and tapping the threads again.

If there's not much, you could change the design from a closed-end barrel to a barrel that's threaded both ends. Make a finial from the same material as the section so it looks balanced, put that in the off-center end since you'll turn the outside of the finial and barrel down at the same time.

Thank you Duncan. I have extra length. I will most like do-over. However, I was curious as to the possible alternatives presented in my post. Thank you!
