I have a ShopFox 1704 that has served me very well, but I'm thinking about upgrading to something that would allow me to do larger pieces, and that has more power for drilling. The main constraint that I face is that my shop size limits the maximum footprint that the lathe can have.
At this point, I think I have ruled out the Delta 46-460 because it's footprint is too long for my bench, and because of the rumors that Delta is abandoning that model and can no longer provide replacement parts. Also, the Jet is more money that I want to spend. That leaves with a choice between the Nova and the Turncrafter. The Turncrafter has a higher power rating, and was selected as a "Best Buy" by Fine Woodworking Magazine a few years ago - and there is a currently a 'sale' that reduces the price by about as much as I would have to spend on the accessories that I would also need to buy, but it's quality control reputation is not very good. The Nova fits my bench, and has a fairly good reputation, but it's power rating is lower.
So I'm still thinking about it.
