Electroplating has added a whole new level of excitement to my shop time ("What can I sparkle?"). Here, I'm more interested in showing off the plated stuff than the rest of the pen. The center band and "end buttons" are plated in 24k gold (you can see what a pretty day it is here in Taos in one of the buttons). The pen is Cumberland Rod.

Thanks for oogling.

Very pretty pen. I really like the electroplated parts, but how do you think the 24K gold will hold up to wear?

Well, after I plate it, I run it under a white diamond buff for a minute or so to shine it up, so I'm guessing it's pretty durable.

Doug, I like the e-plating, but I have to ask. Am I seeing a photographic anomaly, or fine scratches about half way down the barrel?

Dust, I think. I got worried when I read your post, and I gave it a good looking over. Ebonite does draw the dust, and it's one thing we have in abundance here in Taos!
