It was first presented to me as a neat contest that might fit into the Bash in the coming years.

That is interesting. Another way to get the brain thinking is a good thing and imagination is what keeps things interesting.

I've seen pens made by using drill presses, belt sanders, spokeshaves, you name it, chances are there's somebody who's already done it.

I've made several with my granddaughter, just wrapping tubes with deco duct tape or swirly, mixed poly clay. Nothing fancy, but they turned out pretty cool. One even won 2nd place in last year's youth contest.

I wish I had video'd the non-lathe pens I've made. I think there were at least 10 in my album. :biggrin:

I remember a really cool pen that someone here made using an old micrometer. Wish I could remember who it was.

John, it was Drawknife that made the pens from micrometers.
He hasn't been around for a while though:wink:
