My neighbors had a large branch fall last week. I looked out and he (well into his 80's) had an old hand saw he was cutting this Oak with. I ran outside and stopped him and told him I would take care of it when I got back from my daughters soccer game. Did that and he just came by and dropped these off. Now I'm torn, do I save some for the wife and kids........

That was a nice gesture by your neighbor. I'd share with the family.

Whatever was left when they got home that is. Someone has to do the quality control taste testing.

It was very thoughtful of you to lend a hand to someone that has probably been independent his whole life. It's not easy for us to turn over tasks we have always been able to do ourselves unto others.
 
when i get wood like that, i always make something from it and return it to the person i got the tree from........as far as the cookies, well, my wife is on a diet......she she wouoldn't know about them
 
can't beat simple humanity .... so simple in fact, it is all too often overlooked.

EDIT: ooops "bikkies" is what we Aussies call biscuits, (what you call cookies) but then of course, that may be no help to you guys either, as I believe biscuits are small bread rolls over there

They are good people and I enjoy helping them out, good conversation. They have some large oaks and they lose branches often. I think my Stihl has seen more action over there then in my own yard.

I got through that much of it and thought oh this is one of those guys that either:

A: Told you off, because "I can do it myself" How dare you think I am an invalid....

or

B: Got home and he did it himself, because he thought you forgot.

or

C: You got home later than you thought and couldn't get to it that day and he has been raising cain about it ever since.
