My Sister (bless her hart) bought me a new Delta contractor ts. I am in the process of setting it up. Expect to learn how to use it soon and spend many many hours using it.

John; That's great! Now the first thing you need to build is a sliding sled to keep your fingers away from the saw blade.

Look for a good book on Table Saw setup and maintenance.

John,

Congrats on the saw.

I noticed you live in Mt. Enterprise. I spent many hours a child there visiting relatives. They lived just down the road from Camp Tonkawa (sp). My mom's family grew up in Sacul and Nacogdoches.

I miss the pines and the red sand everywhere...

I like my Jet Contractor saw especially since I mounted an Incra miter to it. The danged thing is perfect as long as I remember to recalibrate the sliding measurement thingies to 0 on the blade. All that requires is putting the fence next to a stopped blade and matching the 0" under the site glass.

You really do need to make your sister something nice ... something like a drop leaf Cocobolo dining room table with eight chairs. Do you think that maybe she had an idea up her sleeve when she presented the saw to you. Some ladies can be sneaky ya know!
