Got this in my email today. Two things stand out
# one I haven't ordered from Amazon in a while # 2 when I do I use their CC and not my bank, # 3 all they want is for me to send them a CC # , be careful these guys are really trying and I'm sure some people are falling for it. By the way they do need to brush up on their English. Notice the sentence that my bank decline it. I guess declined is to hard to spell:rolleyes:

Amazon:
We tried to withdraw money from your credit card and your bank decline it. Please see attarched and send payment to clear up this matter.

Your credit card was blocked.

We tried to withdraw money from your credit card, but your bank decline it. In the attachment you will be found a invoice from your last order. Please pay this invoice as soon as possible.

The first clue to hostile intent is the rather poor grammar and spelling.

Always review where links go before clicking them. NEVER EVER give identity information on a clicked link. Especially one from an email.

Type the correct address into your browser's address bar or use a bookmark/Favorite that you created.

If it's not a secured (https://) site, then NEVER Give identity information.

That sort of thing works with some degree of regularity on people who use Amazon (or Ebay, etc.) a lot and don't immediately recognize it isn't about an order they've just made.

It ends up being an almost mathematical thing, you go fishing with X million scam e-mails and you catch an almost predictable percentage of X in return.

I actually have gotten email like that from Amazon. But it was for preorders, using credit cards that have since been replaced. And the link it provides is to Amazon's site, where it shows the item I ordered, and the last 4 digits of the CC# used, so I know it's legit. Plus, the email used gud gramer and speeling.

I've gotten a number of them..one of them came in before the card did. My wife took out a card to get a discount with the thought that we'd never activate it. She got one of those emails before the card arrived.
