The color variation in the antler is neat Gary, and I like the pick material center band; it give a cleaner look to the pens. Nice job!

Great looking pens Gary. I had a garden one time that grew stones every year also.[:D] I thought the deacons had brought over during the night. Are you using new or used 30-06 casings? If new where did you get them?

I bought some used caseing off ebay. Big mistake--never again.
Had to toss about half of it in the trash. Next time I will buy new caseing---should be able to find a reloading outfitter out there that would know where to get them. I have enough to last me for a long time.

Just wondering Gary, why you had to toss them out?

Very nice 4 pointer Gary. They all look great. I feel as dumb as a sack of rocks, but,
How do you grow rocks ????

I hope RT doesn't get jealous [:D]

Excellent pens. I like the pickguard a lot too. I am not "diggin" the rocks. ( I know bad pun). Too busy for the photos IMHO.

James---the caseings I bought where called ---once fired.
They are not round anymore---have very fine cracks.
Looks more like trash that he could not reload.
By the time you clean them up and repolish them you have a lot of time in each caseing.
I bought them so cheap that I could not say anything to the guy but I will not go that route again.

James I think I will try try a large stone with a white back ground next time.

Every year in the spring we plow the gardens up and get them ready for planting. You can fill a wheelborrow up with rocks every spring. They wheren't there last year so we must be growing them. Margie has hundreds of these little geodes piled up everywhere.

Richard---I wanted everything to be centered--not out of round.
I cut shavings---with a knife-- out of pine and used them like shims--- added a little glue and I was done.
I know that sounds stupid---it sure aint fancy---put it works for me.

New casings are sometimes ather dented and do not polish well.
I have found "fire formed" the best for a nice finish.
Of course, you could tell the customer the dented ones are used when in fact the new ones are usually more dented.
